  本书撰写的起因最初源于2009年在法兰克福社会研究所的一场会议,这次会议由德国著名哲学家克里斯托夫·门克主持,在这场会议中,霍耐特与朗西埃有着激烈的交谈。

  阿克塞尔•霍耐特(Axel Honneth,1949—),德国社会哲学家,法兰克福学派“第三代”最重要的理论家。2001—2018年任法兰克福大学社会研究所(IFS)所长,现为纽约哥伦比亚大学人文教授。作为哈贝马斯教席的继任者(1996),主张人际间的相互承认为社会批判的规范之源,并以此为基础构建了批判性的正义理论体系,在世界范围内产生了重要影响。主要著作有《为承认而斗争》《自由的权利》《理性的病理学》《正义的他者》等。

  雅克·朗西埃(Jacques Rancière,1940年-),法国哲学家。早年与阿尔都塞合著《读资本论》(Lirele Capital,1965),后专注于美学—政治的研究,提出“歧义论”。他的论述主要涉及文学、电影与政治等哲学思考,在欧美已被誉为当代重要的思想家之一。

Recognition or Ambiguity? Content introduction

The book was originally inspired by a 2009 conference at the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt, hosted by the famous German philosopher Christoph Menke, at which Hornett and Rancier had a heated conversation.

The theory of "recognition" is the core of Hornett's philosophy, while "ambiguity" is the basis of Rancier's political philosophy. For Hornet, Rancier's philosophical views were unrealistic, with too much emphasis and fixation on equality, and according to Rancier, Honcier's theory of recognition carried the false idea of subjectivity and identity. Together, they ponder what critical theory should look like today, in a fascinating debate between two prominent representatives of Europe's post-Marxist era.

◆ Author Introduction

Axel Honneth (1949 -) was a German social philosopher and the most important theorist of the third generation of the Frankfurt School. He was Director of the Institute for Social Research (IFS) at the University of Frankfurt from 2001 to 2018 and is now Professor of Humanities at Columbia University in New York. As the successor of Habermas's Chair (1996), he advocated mutual recognition among people as the normative source of social criticism, and built a critical theory of justice on this basis, which has had an important impact on the world. His main works include The Struggle for Recognition, The Right to Freedom, The Pathology of Reason, and the Righteous Other.

Jacques Ranciere (born 1940) is a French philosopher. In his early years, he co-wrote Lirele Capital (1965) with Althusser, and later focused on the study of esthetics and politics, putting forward the "ambiguity theory". His treatises mainly involve literary, film and political philosophical thinking, and he has been praised as one of the most important contemporary thinkers in Europe and America.
