薄井辛西娅1959年出生于菲律宾的一个日本人家庭。作为国费留学生前往东京外国语大学就读，毕业后进入某贸易公司工作，后与在外务省工作的丈夫结婚。30岁生下孩子后成为全职主妇。约二十年间在五个国家辗转生活。以女儿考上大学为契机，47岁时再就业。一开始在女儿母校的自助餐厅做“食堂阿姨”，回到日本后从时薪1300日元的电话客服做起，后来进入全日空东京洲际酒店，三年后成为销售开发部副经理，之后又跳槽去了东京香格里拉酒店。2018年在可口可乐日本公司担任高级经理，负责与2020年东京奥运会和残奥会有关的招待业务。2021年春天，就任外资酒店LOF酒店管理有限公司的日本法人社长。
My Life is My Own. I grew up in a Japanese family in the Philippines. My father once told me quietly, "It's okay if you die. We don't need a girl." I read a lot of books to arm myself against Dad's warped values. At the age of 20, I had reached the limit of my endurance in this environment and decided to give up my family of origin.

About the author
Cynthia Hokai was born in 1959 to a Japanese family in the Philippines. She went to Tokyo University of Foreign Studies as an international student, and after graduation, she worked for a trading company and married her husband, who worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She gave birth to a child at age 30 and became a full-time housewife. Lived in five countries for about 20 years. With her daughter going to college as an opportunity, she will find a job at age 47. She started her career as a "cafeteria lady" in the cafeteria of her daughter's Alma mater, and returned to Japan to work as a telephone customer service worker at 1,300 yen per hour. She later joined ANA Intercontinental Tokyo and became the assistant manager of sales development three years later, before moving to Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo. In 2018, he worked as a senior manager at Coca-Cola Japan, responsible for the hospitality business related to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. In the spring of 2021, he became the president of LOF Hotel Management Co., Ltd. in Japan.
