作者简介
罗志田，四川大学历史系七七级毕业，新墨西哥大学硕士、普林斯顿大学博士，现任四川大学杰出教授。研究方向主要为中国近代思想文化史，著有《权势转移》《再造文明的尝试：胡适传》《国家与学术》《近代中国史学述论》《乱世潜流》《经典淡出之后》《道出于二》《东风与西风》《风雨鸡鸣》《斯文关天意》等。

This book focuses on the historical parties' concern for The Times, returns to their old hearts, and examines the power transfer of modern Chinese thought and society from a broad cultural perspective. Across the disciplinary barriers of ideological history and social history, the book reveals the rich characteristics of modern Chinese society, such as the interruption and inheritance of tradition in the great changes of modern China, the unique competition between Chinese and Western cultures, and the interaction between ideological evolution and social changes. With the disintegration of the four people society and the retirement of the classics, the tendency of "state advancing and people retreating" emerged in the Republic of China. These developments have both created and obscured many problems, which were troubling to scholars at the time and still affect us today.
About the author
Luo Zhitian graduated from Sichuan University with a Bachelor's degree in history. He received a master's degree from the University of New Mexico and a doctorate from Princeton University. He is currently an outstanding professor at Sichuan University. His research interests mainly focus on modern Chinese ideological and cultural history, including the Transfer of Power, The Attempt to Rebuild Civilization: Biography of Hu Shi, The State and Academia, A Brief Introduction to Modern Chinese History, The Undercurrent of Troubled Times, After the Classical Fade Out, Tao Yi Er, The East Wind and the West Wind, the Wind and the Wind, and the Will of the Wen Guan.
