Harry Bloch was a poor, second-rate writer who made a living writing science fiction, mystery, vampire fiction and pornographic columns under various pseudonyms. But he never made a name for himself, scrimping and scraping by. A letter from prison reignited his dream of being a writer.
The letter was from Darian Clay, a notorious serial killer who had murdered young women in the name of a photo shoot and was about to be executed. Clay proposed that Harry write his autobiography on the condition that Harry interview three of Clay's female fans and write them and Clay into a pornographic story.
Harry's high school partner Claire (who is also his tutor) believes that his success depends on it and tries to persuade him to accept the offer.
When Harry begins interviewing strange women obsessed with serial killers, he is suddenly in a more dangerous situation than any of his fictional characters. Three female fans murdered in quick succession in Clay's style. What's going on when a serial killer is in prison?
Harry is forced to become a detective and to worry that he will be the next victim. In the meantime, to support himself, he continues to write science fiction, mysteries, and vampire novels.

She holds a Master of Arts in English from Sarah Lawrence College and a Master of Arts in Comparative literature and Writing from Columbia University. He has worked in film, fashion, publishing and erotic literature. She also wrote "Mystery Girl" and "White Tiger on the Snow Mountain".
His first novel, The Second Story Novelist, which blended elements of the genre of science fiction, mystery and vampires, was critically acclaimed, especially in Japan, and in 2013 was adapted into a film directed by Masaki Inuzaki and starring Takashi Kamikawa.
