作者简介
加斯通•勒鲁（Gaston Leroux，1868—1927），20世纪初法国最杰出的推理小说家，在法国有“永恒的记者”之称。他于1890年开始投身报业，曾作为特派记者周游世界各地。1900年开始创作长篇小说。他的小说风格诡异，擅长以不可思议的内容与场景营造恐怖悬疑的气氛，并且在恐怖中淋漓尽致地表达人性。
勒鲁的作品融合了爱情与恐怖情节，故事发生的地点通常为具有庄严气氛的场所，如歌剧院、历史悠久的城堡等等；他的行文通俗易懂，然而其叙述方式、善于牵引读者的技巧，以及他独特的“小说蒙太奇”，使他堪称一位侦探文学大家。他的作品常被搬上大银幕，而享誉全球的著名音乐剧《歌剧魅影》即改编自他的同名小说。

A mysterious case shocked the flower capital of Paris. In the isolated Chateau de Grande, cats make strange noises, and when the cuckoo in the clock strikes midnight, a scream comes from the yellow room of the famous scientist's daughter, Miss Mathilde. Professor Statham from the lab next door rushed to the rescue. However, the doors and Windows of the yellow room were closed, and when people broke in, no trace of the murderer could be found. How does a killer mysteriously disappear from a closed room? Everything can not be explained by common sense, is there really a "supernatural crime" that the devil exists?
The famous detective Larsen and the adventurous young reporter Julietta Baye arrive at the castle. However, under the close protection of two people, Miss Mathilde was attacked again, and the murderer actually disappeared in front of the eyes under the crowd.
About the author
Gaston Leroux (1868-1927), the most outstanding French mystery novelist in the early 20th century, is known as the "eternal journalist" in France. He began his career in the newspaper industry in 1890 and has traveled the world as a special correspondent. He began writing novels in 1900. His novel style is strange, good at creating an atmosphere of horror and suspense with incredible content and scenes, and expressing humanity in horror.
Leroux's works are a mixture of love and horror, often set in solemn places such as opera houses and historic castles. His writing is easy to understand, but his narrative style, his knack for drawing readers in, and his unique "novel montage" make him a master of detective literature. His works have often been adapted for the big screen, and the famous musical "Phantom of the Opera" is adapted from his novel of the same name.
