克里斯蒂安娜·霍夫曼丨Christiane Hoffmann
《明镜周刊》专栏作家。曾在弗赖堡、圣彼得堡和汉堡学习斯拉夫语言文学、东欧历史与新闻学，后为《法兰克福汇报》工作了近二十年，并以驻外记者的身份在莫斯科和德黑兰工作。她的父母均为二战后被驱逐并逃到西德的德裔难民，父亲一脉原生活在西里西亚地区（现属波兰、捷克等），母亲一脉原生活在东普鲁士地区（现属俄罗斯、波兰等）。

In January 1945, the German Army retreated from Poland, more than 1 million German civilians and more than 500,000 German soldiers withdrew to Western Europe, resulting in a large number of refugee children. The author is the son of refugee children, both of whom were German refugees expelled from their homeland during the war. His father, who was nine years old when he fled, did not mention anything about the incident, and the village not only changed its name, but also its nationality was transferred from Germany to Poland. 75 years later, at the same time, the father is critically ill, and the daughter re-embarks on the road of their escape.
This is a history of family separation, but also a sad song of the national soul. The book is centered on Silesia, the triangle of the border of the three countries, combined with the experience of the author's family, what he saw and heard along the way, and the oral accounts of witnesses, the tracing of history and the current account, travel and record history, moving to re-create the contradictions and faults in German-Polish-Russian relations, and provide another possibility to enter the history with the way of re-measuring with feet.
About the author
Christiane Hoffmann
Columnist for Der Spiegel. After studying Slavic languages and literature, Eastern European history and journalism in Freiburg, St. Petersburg and Hamburg, he worked for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung for nearly two decades and as a foreign correspondent in Moscow and Tehran. Her parents were refugees of German descent who fled to West Germany after World War II. Her father lived in Silesia (now Poland, Czech Republic, etc.) and her mother lived in East Prussia (now Russia, Poland, etc.).
