The author of this book, Wang Jibing, is a delivery man who has run a total of 150,000 kilometers, which is equivalent to running 15 times along the Great Wall. In the days of shuttling through the city, he saw more people who were struggling to survive like him, food delivery workers, migrant workers, cleaners, and nannies. They rushed about in a hurry, but lost their identity: they could not find a place to settle in the city, and their hometown and parents were constantly moving away. Like a troubadour from the bottom of China, Wang Jibing records himself and their embarrassment, as well as their pride as laborers. He wrote: "I also have my own independent country, my boiling blood is my flowing rivers, my jagged bones are my towering mountains." These lines, written on cigarette boxes and scrap newspapers in the rush, are folk songs from the labor field, vigorous, harsh and sharp. Some were accidentally posted on the Internet, eliciting unexpected resonance, and a single poem was read as many as 20 million times. This book is the first collection of his poetry.
About the author
Wang Jibing, delivery man, poet. In between deliveries, he recorded his travels with other laborers in poetry. He has composed more than 4,000 poems. This book selects the best of these works.
