作者简介
久保田博二，1939年生于东京，1962年从早稻田大学政治学专业毕业后，移居美国成为一名摄影师，1965年加入玛格南图片社。他拍摄了1968年的美国总统选举，同年回到日本。1971年，他成为玛格南图片社合伙人。1975年，他访问越南拍摄西贡，1978至2019年多次前往朝鲜拍摄，1979至1985年在中国拍摄，1988至1992年在美国拍摄。他还拍摄了缅甸和其他国家。
他于1970年获得讲谈社出版文化奖，1981年获得日本摄影协会的年度奖，1983年获得每日艺术奖。久保田在东京、大阪、北京、纽约、华盛顿、罗马、伦敦、维也纳、巴黎等许多城市举办过个人展览，在日本、美国、加拿大、法国、韩国、德国等多国出版摄影画册，包括《桂林梦幻》《黄山仙境》《中国万华》《中国》《从海到闪亮的海：美国的画像》《走出东方》《我们能养活自己吗？》《日本》《久保田博二：摄影家》等。

Between 1978 and 1985, Japanese photographer Hiroji Kubota spent more than 1,000 days visiting almost all provinces in China, taking more than 200,000 color photos. His keen political eye recognizes that China is at the beginning of a history. He came to China, lived with the people's communes, went to the dry toilets, rode ox carts, quietly observed all aspects of China, and recorded Chinese people's clothes, food, work, travel, and entertainment with his lens. He captures both deeply traditional elements and new ways of expression. "China in Early Spring" selects more than 370 photos from Hiroji Kubota's massive negatives, both widely disseminated classics and a large number of wonderful images revealed for the first time, presenting readers with a China that is budding like an early spring.
About the author
Hiroji Kubota was born in Tokyo in 1939. After graduating from Waseda University in political science in 1962, he moved to the United States to become a photographer and joined Magnum Photo Agency in 1965. He photographed the 1968 U.S. presidential election and returned to Japan that same year. In 1971, he became a partner at Magnum Photo Agency. He visited Vietnam to photograph Saigon in 1975, traveled to North Korea several times from 1978 to 2019, shot in China from 1979 to 1985, and shot in the United States from 1988 to 1992. He also photographed Myanmar and other countries.
He received the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award in 1970, the Annual Award of the Japan Photography Society in 1981, and the Daily Art Award in 1983. Kubota has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, New York, Washington, Rome, London, Vienna, Paris and many other cities, and has published photo albums in Japan, the United States, Canada, France, Korea, Germany and many other countries, including "Guilin Dream", "Huangshan Wonderland", "China Wanhua", "China", "From Sea to Shining Sea: A Portrait of America, Out of the East, Can We Feed Ourselves?
