沙洛姆·萨洛蒙·瓦尔德，瑞士巴塞尔大学经济学和历史学博士。曾任总部设在巴黎的经济合作与发展组织（OECD）生物技术部门负责人，研究科学和技术政策。现为耶路撒冷的犹太民族政策研究所（JPPI）高级研究员，研究领域为犹太文明史、以色列科技政策、以色列与中国和印度的关系。著有《中国和犹太民族：新时代中的古文明》《印度、以色列和犹太民族：以印建交25年后的回顾与前瞻》。

This book is a thought experiment. By examining the studies of 23 ancient and modern Chinese and foreign historians on the rise and fall of states and civilizations, the author extracts 12 driving forces that can influence the rise and fall of civilizations, and uses this as a starting point to review and reflect on the three thousand years of Jewish history. This book breaks disciplinary boundaries and covers a wide range of fields such as economics, genetics, demography, religion, and environmental policy. Through the mutual learning of Jewish history and theories of the rise and fall of civilization, it looks forward to the future of the Jewish people and provides references for policymakers.

Shalom Salomon Wald holds a PhD in Economics and history from the University of Basel, Switzerland. He was previously head of biotechnology at the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where he worked on science and technology policy. He is currently a senior fellow at the Jewish National Policy Institute (JPPI) in Jerusalem, where he studies the history of Jewish civilization, Israeli science and technology policy, and Israel's relations with China and India. He is the author of "China and the Jewish People: Ancient Civilizations in a New Era" and "India, Israel and the Jewish People: Looking Back and Forward 25 Years after the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Israel and India."
