沿着丝绸之路，一个法国人从伊斯坦布尔出发，徒步穿越土耳其、伊朗、中亚诸国，一路走到中国西安，行程一万两千公里
历经两千余年的丝绸之路，古代商队的驿站还依稀可寻，多少民族的丰富物产和文化艺术在这条路上互相交流，今天“一带一路”重又唤起了这条丝路的活力生机，沿着丝绸之路徒步行走，见证人类的伟绩！
法国记者贝尔纳·奥利维耶在退休之后，决意开启并重塑自己的人生，他的目标是沿着古代丝绸之路，从土耳其的伊斯坦布尔独自步行到中国西安。
他将旅途分为三段，利用每年合适的季节徒步：第一段是穿越安纳托利亚高原，到达伊朗边境，第二段横跨伊朗徒步到丝绸之路重镇撒马尔罕，第三段从撒马尔罕步行到西安。在完成这一万两千公里的“丝路长征”之后，在伴侣的“怂恿”和陪同下，又从里昂徒步到伊斯坦布尔欧洲部分，完成最后的三千公里，也最终形成了这部蜚声世界的旅行记“徒步丝绸之路”四部曲。
第四部《有始有终》分两部分，记录了作者在伴侣的陪同下，从法国里昂开始步行到意大利维罗纳，次年又从维罗纳出发，徒步穿越巴尔干半岛，最终抵达伊斯坦布尔的欧洲部分。
贝尔纳·奥利维耶（Bernard Ollivier），法国记者和旅行作家。他出生于1938年，长年从事记者工作，直到1998年退休。一下子空闲下来，他决定从巴黎出发，徒步两千三百公里，前往欧洲知名朝圣地孔波斯特拉。这趟旅行使他做出了两个重大决定：一是帮助误入歧途的青少年，通过徒步的方式重塑自己的人生；二是他决定沿着古代丝绸之路徒步旅行。1999年5月，他从伊斯坦布尔出发，历时三年，走到西安，行程一万两千公里。另一方面，他成立了“门槛”协会（assoseuil.org），资助失足青少年徒步旅行。

After retiring, French journalist Bernard Olivier decided to start and reinvent his life. His goal was to walk alone from Istanbul, Turkey, to Xi 'an, China, along the ancient Silk Road.
He divided the journey into three sections, taking advantage of the right season of the year to walk: the first crossing the Anatolian plateau to the Iranian border, the second crossing Iran to Samarkand, a key Silk Road town, and the third walking from Samarkand to Xi 'an. After completing the twelve thousand kilometers of the "Silk Road Long March", with the "encouragement" and accompaniment of his partner, he walked from Lyon to the European part of Istanbul to complete the last three thousand kilometers, and finally formed the world-famous travel record "Walking the Silk Road" quartet.
The fourth two-part book, "The Beginning and the End," Chronicles the author's walk, accompanied by his partner, from Lyon, France, to Verona, Italy, and from Verona the following year, through the Balkans on foot, culminating in the European part of Istanbul.
Bernard Ollivier is a French journalist and travel writer. Born in 1938, he worked as a journalist until his retirement in 1998. Suddenly free, he decided to start from Paris and walk 2,300 kilometers to Compostela, a well-known European pilgrimage site. The trip led him to make two big decisions: One was to help misguided teenagers remake their lives on foot; Second, he decided to take a hike along the ancient Silk Road. In May 1999, he set off from Istanbul and took three years to walk to Xi 'an, covering 12,000 kilometers. On the other hand, he founded the "Threshold" association (assoseuil.org), which funds walking trips for troubled teenagers.
