Ursula LeGuin (UrsulaK.LeGuin), born in Berkeley, California, the world famous fantasy, science fiction novelist, known as the "queen of science fiction." Le Guen has made remarkable achievements in various fields of writing, including 21 novels, 11 volumes of short stories, 4 anthology books, 12 books of children's literature, 6 volumes of poetry and 4 translations. She has won many of the most important awards in the field of international fantasy fiction: eight Hugo Awards, six Nebula Awards, 21 Trajectory Awards, the National Book Award, the Kafka Award and the title of "Master" of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and the Robert Kirsch Lifetime Achievement Award of the Los Angeles Times. The Western literary critic Harold Bloom has included her in the Canon of American literature, and The New York Times has called her "the greatest contemporary American science fiction writer," although she prefers to be known as "the American novelist."
