《壬辰战争》一书综合运用中日朝韩史料，全面、客观地描述了发生在16世纪末的日本侵朝战争。1592年，刚刚统一日本不久的丰臣秀吉在野心的驱使下，动员15万8800名远征军入侵朝鲜半岛。他的最终目标是建立一个囊括其所知的整个世界的庞大帝国。战争初期，日军一路长驱直入，短短一个多月便攻下朝鲜三都汉城、开城、平壤，进抵中朝边境。危急时刻，明朝万历皇帝当机立断，决定派大军支援朝鲜。明军在平壤大败日军小西行长部，随后一举收复三都。与此同时，朝鲜名将李舜臣在半岛南部海域屡挫日军水师；朝鲜各地义兵蜂起，四处袭击日军补给线。日军战事不利、兵力不足、后勤不济，陷入孤立无援的境地，只能退守半岛东南一隅。最终，随着丰臣秀吉的过世，日军全面撤出朝鲜半岛，壬辰战争结束。这场战争不仅给东亚各国人民带来了灾难，也对历史产生了深远影响。此战过后，旧势力纷纷衰落，新势力渐次崛起，东亚地缘政治格局发生了巨变。
作者简介
塞缪尔•霍利（SamuelHawley）出生并成长于韩国首尔，在加拿大皇后大学取得学士、硕士学位后再次返回东亚，旅居韩国、日本，2007年以后在韩国延世大学任助理教授。霍利著述颇丰，主要作品有《隐士的国度》《在朝鲜的美国人》等。

Introduction to the War of the Siren
The book "Onchen War" comprehensively and objectively describes the Japanese War of aggression against Korea in the late 16th century by using the historical materials of China, Japan and Korea. In 1592, Hideyoshi Toyotomi, who had just unified Japan, mobilized 158,800 expeditionary troops to invade the Korean Peninsula. His ultimate goal was to build a vast empire encompassing the entire world as he knew it. In the early days of the war, the Japanese army marched all the way into Korea and captured the three capital cities of Seoul, Kaesong and Pyongyang in just over a month, reaching the border with China. At a critical moment, Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty made a quick decision and decided to send an army to support Korea. The Ming army defeated the Japanese Governor's Office in Pyongyang, and then regained Sandu in one fell fell. At the same time, the Korean general Yi Sun-shin repeatedly defeated the Japanese naval forces in the southern waters of the peninsula; Volunteers swarmed all over Korea to attack Japanese supply lines. The Japanese war is not good, insufficient troops, poor logistics, isolated and helpless, can only retreat to the southeast corner of the peninsula. Eventually, with Toyotomi Hideyoshi's death, the Japanese army withdrew from the Korean Peninsula and the Onchen War ended. The war not only brought disaster to the peoples of East Asian countries, but also had a profound impact on history. After the war, the old power declined one after another, and the new power gradually rose, and the geopolitical pattern in East Asia underwent great changes.
About the author
SamuelHawley was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. After earning his bachelor's and Master's degrees at Queen's University in Canada, he returned to East Asia, lived in Korea and Japan, and has been an assistant professor at Yonsei University in Korea since 2007. Hawley is the author of many books, including "The Hermit Kingdom" and "Americans in North Korea."
Translator Fang Yu holds a bachelor's degree in History from Peking University and a master's degree in East Asian Studies from Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea.
