画家迪诺从小饱受烦闷情绪的折磨，自觉与周遭的一切都缺乏联系。他试图以占有的手段与世界建立联结，比如占有一个杯子，或是占有一个女孩。然而，他偏偏遇上了一个无意与世界建立联结，因此无法被占有的女孩。肉体占有、金钱贿赂、婚姻诱惑、死亡威胁……迪诺用尽了种种偏激疯狂的手段，却始终占有而不得，直到他意识到自己早已被困在占有欲的牢笼中了……

莫拉维亚之于意大利，如同鲁迅之于中国。
他与卡尔维诺、夏侠被评论界合称为“意大利现代文学三杰”。1907年，莫拉维亚出生于罗马的一个资产阶级家庭。22岁时，莫拉维亚出版欧洲第一部存在主义小说《冷漠的人》，一举成名。20世纪中期，他在全球文坛如日中天，陆续出版了《罗马女人》《同流者》《鄙视》等巨著，冷静审视现代人的情爱世界、失意者的内心世界，记录了一个时代的精神危机，探讨人的行动力、人的责任以及人如何能更好地存在。1960年，《空白画布》出版，甫一问世便荣获当年的维亚雷焦文学奖。
在意大利文坛，他是公认的来不及获得诺贝尔文学奖的国民作家，曾获得15次诺奖提名，并获斯特雷加奖、马佐托奖、蒙戴洛文学奖等多个奖项。他更是名导宠儿，多部作品登上银幕：戈达尔翻拍《鄙视》，贝托鲁奇翻拍《同流者》，达米亚尼翻拍《空白画布》，等等。他的作品对意大利的语言、电影界产生了深远的影响。1983年，他以崇高威望当选欧洲笔会主席，并任欧洲议会会员。
"Blank Canvas" content introduction
Dino, a painter, suffered from boredom as a child and felt a lack of connection with everything around him. He tries to connect with the world by means of possession, such as possession of a cup, or possession of a girl. Moravia is to Italy what Lu Xun was to China.
Together with Calvino and Xia Xia, he has been called "the three masters of modern Italian literature" by critics. Moravia was born into a bourgeois family in Rome in 1907. At the age of 22, Moravia became famous when she published Europe's first existential novel, The Indifferent Man. In the middle of the 20th century, he was on the rise in the global literary world, and successively published such great works as "Roman Woman", "Fellow Flow" and "Despise", calmly examining the modern love world and the inner world of frustrated people, recording the spiritual crisis of an era, and discussing people's action power, people's responsibility and how people can better exist. His work has had a profound impact on Italian language and cinema. In 1983, he was elected President of PEN Europe and a member of the European Parliament.
