Brief introduction of the Political System and Political Culture in the late Northern Song Dynasty
The research object of this book is the political history of the Zhe Zong and Huizong dynasties (1085-1125) in the Northern Song Dynasty. In order to avoid reducing political history to a history of political struggle, this book rearranges the complicated political evolution of the late Northern Song Dynasty from the perspective of political system and political culture, and then attempts to understand the characteristics of dynastic politics in ancient China. First of all, the book always focuses on the Song Dynasty "scholar-bureaucrat politics" as a major theme, explaining the process of the gradual alienation of its multi-level ideals in the political practice of the late Northern Song Dynasty, and the political difficulties of the late Northern Song Dynasty, such as party strife and corruption, emphasized by predecessors, are the by-products of this alienation. Secondly, from the technical and conceptual level, this book explains the flexibility and pluralism of imperial politics in the late Northern Song Dynasty, rather than a fixed trend, in order to break away from the general idea of the strength and strength of the monarchy and find a new way to understand the dynastic system. In this reissue, in addition to correcting the errors of the first edition, adding a number of new arguments, there is also a new appendix, which summarizes the path of the Song Dynasty political history research in recent years.
