Francis Ford Coppola, born on April 7, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, an Italian immigrant family, is a famous American film director, producer and screenwriter, one of the outstanding directors emerging in the New Hollywood period, and an influential and important figure in the film industry. Representative works include "General Patton", "Godfather" trilogy, "Apocalypse Now" and other classic films.
