Introduction to the Myth of Sisyphus
The Myth of Sisyphus, a philosophical treatise written by Camus, is the concentrated embodiment of his "absurd philosophy". In all his literary works and philosophical essays, "absurdity" is the most important concept that Camus emphasizes. According to Camus, absurdity is born out of "the confrontation between the call of man and the irrational silence of the world."
In this book, he analyzed and probed the thoughts of many philosophers, such as Jaspers, Kierkegaard, Husserl, Heidegger, Shestov, and also commented on the literary masterpieces of Dostoevsky, with the aim of elucidating his concept of "absurdity" and further pointing out: "To live is to experience absurdity." The first thing to experience absurdity is to look at it." He guides us, like Sisyphus, to know our destiny, to rebel against it, to live without looking back.
