《宋史测度》内容简介

　　本书原名《两宋史研究汇编》，初版由台湾联经出版事业公司出版。作者提倡多元化的历史观，认为研究历史需要学者根据史料近乎情理地测度，探索真相，故改今名。本书稿是一部深入探讨关涉宋代几个大历史侧面的论文集，讨论的都是两宋朝廷重文轻武、文官制度、包容政治乃至秦桧、岳飞评价等问题，作者在大量文献基础上不囿旧窠，提出新见，对于学界进一步拓深宋史研究有启发价值。

　　本书是美籍华裔宋史学家刘子健先生的代表作之一，所收集的多篇主题文章体现了作者多元化的历史观。作者由封禅祭典、君主与言官的关系、政治上的包容性来观察宋代的君权和政治特色，由岳飞、秦桧、王安石、曾布、梅尧臣等人来观察宋代士大夫与武将的风格类型，由地方官学私学的消长、考场弊端、道统之成立来观察宋代的教育与道学，由马球、启蒙书、乡绅赈饥来观察宋代的文化与社会，视野宏大，剖析入理，为读者描绘出有宋一代更清晰的图像。

　　刘子健(James Tze-chien Liu，1919-1993)，笔名“半宾”，祖籍贵阳，长于上海，美国匹兹堡大学博士，普林斯顿大学教授，专治宋史、比较政治史，著有中英学术论述多篇。其有关宋代政治史、思想文化史的论文和专著在宋史领域具有开风气的地位,近些年来,国内外对他的“中国转向内在”观点多有讨论和阐发，特别是在唐宋变革论的视角之下去看待“中国转向内在”值得深入研究。中国和美国两种不同的历史、社会、文化、学术环境,加之个人的人生经历,深刻影响了刘子健的历史研究理论和方法,塑造了他的中国情怀。

Introduction to the measurement of Song History

The original title of this book is a Compilation of Studies on the History of the Two Song Dynasties. The first edition was published by Taiwan Lianjing Publishing Company. The author advocates a diversified view of history and believes that the study of history requires scholars to measure and explore the truth almost rationally according to historical materials, so the name was changed. This manuscript is a collection of essays on several major historical aspects of the Song Dynasty, including the emphasis on literature over martial arts, civil service system, inclusive politics and even the evaluation of Qin Hui and Yue Fei. Based on a large number of literatures, the author puts forward new ideas without restricting the old ones, which is of enlighten value for the academic circle to further deepen the study of Song history.

This book is one of the representative works of Mr. Liu Zijian, a Chinese-American historian of the Song Dynasty. The collection of essays on various topics reflects the author's diversified view of history. The author observes the monarchical power and political characteristics of the Song Dynasty from the perspectives of the ceremony, the relationship between the monarch and the officials, and the political inclusiveness; the style types of scholastic officials and military generals in the Song Dynasty are observed by Yue Fei, Qin Hui, Wang Anshi, Zeng Bu, Mei Yaochen, etc.; the education and Taoism in the Song Dynasty are observed from the growth and decline of local official and private schools, the malpractices of examination rooms, and the establishment of the Taoist system. About the author

James Tze-chien Liu (1919-1993), pen name "Banbin", born in Guiyang, grew up in Shanghai, Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh, professor at Princeton University, specializing in the history of Song Dynasty, comparative political history, the author of many Chinese and English academic treatises. His papers and monographs on the political history and ideological and cultural history of the Song Dynasty play an important role in the field of Song history. In recent years, there have been many discussions and interpretations on his view of "China turning inward" at home and abroad, especially from the perspective of the reform theory of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The two different historical, social, cultural and academic environments in China and the United States, as well as his personal life experience, profoundly influenced Liu Zijian's theory and method of historical research and shaped his Chinese feelings.
