【 Content Introduction 】
This book shows a group of Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or medicine from 1901 to 1950. Among them are racists, eccentrics and opportunists, as well as heroes, geniuses and selfless donors. It also includes the birth of 41 drugs and therapies: diphtheria therapy, malaria research, vascular suture, the discovery of serum, penicillin, vitamins... These medical discoveries profoundly changed the course of 20th century history, setting in motion half a century of war, disease, and deprivation. The author breaks the stereotype of angels in white looking for miracle cures and truly depicts the personal lives of many medical workers, revealing the intricate human reality behind medical advances.
