出版是思想和知识公之于众的重要媒介，上海则是中国近现代出版的发源地和中心。1949年以前，全国80%以上的出版机构集中在上海，90%以上的近现代学术著作在上海出版，上海出版事业引领了近现代中国新知识传播与思想进步的潮流。2022年10月29日、30日，复旦大学历史学系和中国近现代新闻出版博物馆共同主办了“近现代出版与新知识传播”学术研讨会，全国各地近50位学者参加会议，围绕“出版与新知传播”“出版与文化交流”“出版与商业互动”“辞书与教科书出版”“出版与新文化”“出版与科技知识”“出版与政治活动”七个专题展开探讨。本书选编此次会议论文30余篇，研究涵盖书籍史、阅读史、印刷、翻译、版本和目录学等多元主题，体现了出版史研究的前沿动态。

中国近现代新闻出版博物馆是国内s家新闻出版专业博物馆，坚持“深耕传统、面向世界、拥抱未来”，以新颖的立意、厚重的实物、多元的手段，展示新闻出版的历史文化和事业成果，馆藏文物资料60余万件/套，展示面积5640平方米，涵盖新闻出版通史、印刷技术、儿童出版、艺术设计、数字出版、音像出版等内容。
Content introduction
Publishing is an important medium for the dissemination of ideas and knowledge, and Shanghai is the birthplace and center of publishing in modern China. Before 1949, more than 80 percent of the country's publishing institutions were concentrated in Shanghai, and more than 90 percent of modern and contemporary academic works were published in Shanghai. Shanghai's publishing industry led the trend of new knowledge dissemination and ideological progress in modern and contemporary China. On October 29 and 30, 2022, the Department of History of Fudan University and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Press and Publication of China co-hosted the symposium on "Modern and Contemporary Publishing and New Knowledge Dissemination", which was attended by nearly 50 scholars from all over the country. The discussion focuses on seven topics: "Publishing and Dissemination of new knowledge", "Publishing and cultural exchange", "Publishing and commercial interaction", "dictionary and textbook publishing", "Publishing and new culture", "publishing and scientific and technological knowledge" and "publishing and political activities". This book is a selection of more than 30 papers from the conference, covering multiple topics such as book history, reading history, printing, translation, edition and bibliography, reflecting the forefront of publishing history research.
