柏林是一座博物馆之城。

1994年夏，无条件投降博物馆关闭，数万苏俄士兵离开柏林。不久后，有了一个“俄国人在柏林”的展览，里面有张长长的纸条，写着被俄国人毁掉的每一条柏林街道的名字。

柏林动物园，住着活海象的水池畔，有一场不同寻常的展览，陈列着从海象罗兰的胃里找到的所有物品：打火机、婴儿鞋、儿童水枪、啤酒起子、塑料小汽车……

柏林的跳蚤市场是开放的博物馆，展览着过去与现在每一天的生活，不同时期、不同意识形态得到和解，每样不超过几马克；各种幸存下来的军装与肩章和谐地堆叠在一起，主人已经死了很久，飞蛾是它们唯一的敌人。不拘来自何方的人都可以做生意，有巴基斯坦人、土耳其人、波兰人、吉卜赛人、前南斯拉夫人、德国人、俄国人、越南人、库尔德人、乌克兰人……已逝的日常，时间的垃圾，都被他们当作纪念品在这里贩售：别人家的相册、不走的表、破口的花瓶……

生活破灭的故事只能一点一点地被讲述。事物比人们更持久。相册比主人寿命长。漫长的生命隐藏在旧外套里，在毫无意义的物体里。当一个国家消失，集体记忆也会消失。身边的物体消失了，对日常生活的记忆也会消失。但我记得一切。第一罐南斯拉夫洗衣粉。第一部南斯拉夫电视剧。加夫里洛维奇肉酱。

作者简介

杜布拉夫卡·乌格雷西奇（Dubravka Ugrešić，1949—2023），克罗地亚裔荷兰籍作家，出生于前南斯拉夫，在萨格勒布大学就读期间，主修俄语文学及比较文学，并开始文学创作，毕业后留校从事文学理论研究工作，于1981年开始发表文学作品。1991年，南斯拉夫内战爆发，杜布拉夫卡因公开反对战争及民族主义，遭到国内舆论的猛烈攻击，于1993年被迫离开克罗地亚。此后，杜布拉夫卡先后在哈佛大学、哥伦比亚大学和柏林自由大学等多所大学任教。1996年定居荷兰阿姆斯特丹，从事小说创作、文化评论、翻译、文学研究及编辑出版等工作，致力于推动母语的开放性，维护文化的连续性。

著有《渡过意识之流》《谎言文化》《无条件投降博物馆》《多谢不阅》《疼痛部》《芭芭雅嘎下了一个蛋》《狐狸》等作品，已被翻译为三十多种语言，获南斯拉夫NIN奖、奥地利国家欧洲文学奖、纽斯塔特国际文学奖，获国际布克奖提名，入围美国国家书评人协会奖短名单。

杜布拉夫卡坚持用塞尔维亚-克罗地亚语写作，但拒绝承认自己是克罗地亚作家，她将自己定义为“跨国界”或“后-国家”的写作者，并于2017年参与签署克罗地亚、塞尔维亚、波黑及黑山知识分子及公众人物联合发起的《共同语言宣言》。

Berlin is a city of museums.

In the summer of 1994, the Museum of Unconditional Surrender closed and tens of thousands of Soviet soldiers left Berlin. Soon after, there was a "Russians in Berlin" exhibit with a long piece of paper with the name of every Berlin street destroyed by the Russians.

At Berlin Zoo, next to a pool of live walruses, there's an unusual display of all the items found in Roland's stomach: lighters, baby shoes, children's water guns, beer drivers, plastic cars...

Berlin's flea market is an open museum of everyday life, past and present, where different periods and ideologies are reconciled for no more than a few marks each; The various surviving military uniforms and epaulets are stacked in harmony, the owners long dead, and the moths are their only enemies. People from all over the world can do business: Pakistanis, Turks, Poles, Gypsies, former Yugoslavs, Germans, Russians, Vietnamese, Kurds, Ukrainians... The daily life that has passed away, the garbage of time, are sold here as souvenirs: albums of other people's homes, watches that do not go, broken vases...

The story of shattered lives can only be told bit by bit. Things last longer than people. Albums outlive their owners. Long lives hidden in old coats, in meaningless objects. When a nation disappears, so does the collective memory. As the objects around you disappear, so do the memories of everyday life. But I remember everything. The first can of Yugoslav laundry detergent. The first Yugoslav television series. Gavrilovich bolognese.

About the author

Dubravka Ugrezic (1949-2023), Croatian-Dutch writer, born in the former Yugoslavia, studied at the University of Zagreb, majored in Russian literature and comparative literature, and began to write literature, after graduation to engage in literary theory research work. He began publishing literary works in 1981. When the Yugoslav civil war broke out in 1991, DuBravka was forced to leave Croatia in 1993 due to a fierce domestic backlash for his outspoken opposition to the war and nationalism. Dubravka has since taught at Harvard University, Columbia University, and the Free University of Berlin. In 1996, he settled in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he is engaged in novel writing, cultural criticism, translation, literary research, editing and publishing, and is committed to promoting the openness of mother tongue and maintaining cultural continuity.

His works such as "Through the Stream of Consciousness", "Culture of Lies", "Museum of Unconditional Surrender", "Thanks for not reading", "Department of Pain", "Babaja Laid an Egg" and "Fox" have been translated into more than 30 languages, won the Yugoslav NIN Award, the Austrian National European Prize for Literature, the Neustadt International Prize for Literature, and was nominated for the International Booker Prize. Shortlisted for the National Society of Book Critics Award.

Dubravka insists on writing in Serbo-Croatian, but refuses to identify herself as a Croatian writer, defining herself as a "cross-border" or "post-national" writer, and in 2017 co-signed the "Common Language Declaration" jointly launched by Croatian, Serbian, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro-based intellectuals and public figures.
