劳伦斯·凯斯勒（1936—2020），美国北卡罗来纳大学教堂山分校历史学教授，芝加哥大学博士，师从何炳棣教授。著作有《盛世的奠基：康熙与清朝统治的巩固（1661—1684）》（K’ang-hsi and the Consolidation of Ch’ing Rule,1661-1684.1976年）、《北卡罗来纳的“中国关系”（1840—1949）》（North Carolina’s“China Connection”,1840-1949.合著，1981年）、《江阴布道站：一个在华的美国传教团（1895—1951）》（The Jiangyin Mission Station:An American Missionary Community in China,1895-1951.2006年）。

Content introduction
When Shunzhi died in 1661 and Kangxi succeeded to the throne, the Qing Dynasty faced many problems such as national unification and rule consolidation. After Kangxi came to power, he took a series of measures in political and military aspects. He changed the situation of Ao Bai's specialization, made concessions to the Han elite, courted the Han talent, and eliminated the anti-Qing sentiment of the Ming legacy. At the same time, it won a series of victories, such as the pacification of San Francisco and the recovery of Taiwan. By 1684, the Qing Dynasty had legitimized its rule and triumphed over ideological and military rivals. Kangxi controlled Manchu and Han officials, and made great achievements in middle school and Western learning. All this laid the foundation for China's prosperity and stability in the 18th century.
