作者简介
梅芙·布伦南（1917-1993），爱尔兰作家、记者，生于都柏林，1934年因父亲被爱尔兰自由邦政府任命为首任驻美大使而移居美国。曾为《纽约客》专职作家，发表过大量短篇小说、散文和新闻报道，被视为爱尔兰女性主义文学先驱；后精神失常，晚景凄凉，1993年在美国一家养老院病逝。

The Fountain of Emotions is a collection of 21 short stories reorganized and published by the publishing industry after the death of Maeve Brennan, an Irish diaspora writer living in the United States. They trace the life of a few middle-class families in a small street in Dublin, depicting the secular scenes and family relationships with a strong Irish style, and sometimes complement each other.
With the most intense repression and the most silent passion, the author connects the life of a woman who "obeys, but wild horses can't pull anything out of her." These stories, which reflect the author's childhood and even the lives of his parents, are full of wonders; She dives into every secret corner of the relationship, dissecting the emotional dust, forcing secrets out of hiding, and some of the most moving stories are so wonderful that almost nothing happens at all. Its imagery is so profound, so bland yet so brutally acerbic that it "trims fences," in the words of The New York Times Book Review, "is enough to bring Brennan back to the world-class table of fiction from which she has long been absent."
About the author
Maeve Brennan (1917-1993) was an Irish writer and journalist, born in Dublin, who moved to the United States in 1934 when her father was appointed the first ambassador to the United States by the government of the Irish Free State. She was a staff writer for The New Yorker and has published a number of short stories, essays and news reports, and is regarded as a pioneer of Irish feminist literature. After mental disorder, bleak late life, in 1993 in the United States a nursing home died of illness.
Beginning in the late 1980s, Maeve Brennan's legendary story and the world she created on the page recaptured the attention of American literature. The Fountain of Emotions, a collection of short stories republished in 1997, and the Visitor, a posited novella published in 2000, have been praised by many contemporary writers such as Alice Munro, Edna O 'Brien, and Anne Enright.
