Giuseppe Ongaretti is one of the three reclusive masters. He writes poems carefully, looking for the few words that are accidentally illuminated by the light of experience, and thrillingly connecting these scattered words into beautiful lines. His poems embody a very delicate and subtle sense of modern poetry, and you can even clearly feel the "melancholy leaning on the balustrade of the breeze", and feel the words giving birth to silent flowers in the darkness.
The Shadow of Paradise Lost is a collection of one hundred and forty-eight of Ungarretti's masterpieces from different periods, the earliest poems and the last poems written almost sixty years apart, and in general, a sensitive young and old poetic heart dominates everything and makes those moments that stand on words into eternity.
