本书是本社于2019年10月出版的同名图书的修订版。本书是一部长城方面的专著,全面翔实地讲述了长城自先秦至明清历二千年的修造史,论述了长城与政治、军事、经济、民族关系以及长城精神价值等方面的问题。全书体量庞大,几乎涉及长城研究的方方面面。关于中国古代军事防御、农耕与游牧民族之间的经济秩序、民族融合的关键性作用,本书均进行了充分的论述,并阐释了长城文化精神本身如何成为中华文明体系的产物,长城存在的恒久价值如何彰显了中华民族的治理理念和国民观念等人类文明史的基本问题。修订版改正了原书的一些错误,表述更加准确,论述更加充分。
董耀会,中国长城学会常务副会长,著名长城专家,30多年致力于长的保护和研究,完成首次徒步长城的壮举,主编有《中国长城志》,著有《明长城考实》《瓦合集——长城研究文论》《守望长城——董耀会谈长城保护》等,2007-2017年作为总主编主持完成国家出版基金项目《中国长城志》10卷12分册的编纂工作。

This book is a revised edition of our book of the same name published in October 2019. This book is a monograph on the Great Wall, which comprehensively and accurately tells the construction history of the Great Wall from pre-Qin to Ming and Qing dynasties for two thousand years, and discusses the relationship between the Great Wall and politics, military, economy, nationalities and the spiritual value of the Great Wall. The volume of the book is huge, covering almost every aspect of the Great Wall study. The key role of military defense, the economic order between farming and nomadic peoples, and ethnic integration in ancient China are fully discussed in this book, and how the cultural spirit of the Great Wall itself became a product of the Chinese civilization system, and how the enduring value of the Great Wall reflects the basic questions of the history of human civilization such as the Chinese nation's governance concept and national concept. The revised edition has corrected some mistakes in the original book, and is more accurate and full of discussion.
Dong Yaohui, executive vice president of the Great Wall of China Society, is a famous expert on the Great Wall. He has been committed to the protection and research of the Great Wall for more than 30 years, and completed the feat of walking the Great Wall for the first time. He has edited the Annals of the Great Wall of China, and authored the Facts of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty, The Collection of Wa-Great Wall Research and Literary Theory, and the Watch of the Great Wall - Dong Yaohui Talks about the Protection of the Great Wall. From 2007 to 2017, as the chief editor, he presided over the compilation of 10 volumes and 12 parts of the National Publishing Fund project Annals of the Great Wall of China.
