记者张兴军行走于中印两国之间，目睹真实的印度与国内流传的印度之间的巨大差距。在印期间，他经历了印度的大选，新冠疫情的暴发，中国企业在印度的蓬勃发展；造访了印度社会的各个阶层：从路边小贩、出租车司机、工厂老板，到教师、学者、电影明星，还通过在印华人的视角，提供了一个中国人眼中真实的印度，见证了古老的大国在现代化的高速发展下的断裂与新生。
对于中国人来说，这个邻国与自己的国家有着诸多的相似之处：有着悠久的历史文化，庞大的人口数量，可观的发展空间和潜力，从中国人眼中看印度，就好似看一面镜子。但是，大多数国人对印度的了解，往往局限于一些支离破碎的信息和来自他人的刻板印象。另一方面，随着中国在世界舞台上的影响力愈加强大，中国人需要走向世界，并从自己的角度直接观察世界，而不再通过他者的转述。
作者对于印度的观察，正是基于以上两点，不但要呈现出一个真实的印度，还要“用自己的眼光，认识他人，认识世界”。“某种程度上，这不仅关乎我们如何看待印度，也是一个正在崛起的大国如何看待世界并与之相处的折射。”

张兴军，兰州大学新闻系毕业，2004年加入新华社。历任新华社河南分社记者、经济采访室主任等职务。2017年9月至2021年1月，任新华社孟买分社首席记者，现为新华社河南分社副总编。

Reporter Zhang Xingjun travels between the two countries and sees the huge gap between the real India and the India that is propagated at home. During his stay in India, he experienced India's general election, the outbreak of the new coronavirus epidemic, and the vigorous development of Chinese enterprises in India; He visits all levels of Indian society: from roadside vendors, taxi drivers, factory owners, to teachers, academics, and movie stars, and offers a real view of India through the eyes of Chinese in India, witnessing the breakup and rebirth of the ancient great country under the rapid development of modernization.
For the Chinese people, this neighboring country has many similarities with their own country: it has a long history and culture, a large population, considerable development space and potential, and from the Chinese eyes, India is like looking at a mirror. But what most people know about India is often limited to fragmented information and stereotypes from others. On the other hand, as China becomes more influential on the world stage, Chinese people need to go out to the world and observe the world directly from their own point of view, rather than through the paraphrasing of others.
The author's observation of India is based on the above two points, not only to present a real India, but also to "understand others and the world with their own eyes." "In a way, it's a reflection not just of how we see India, but how a rising power sees and deals with the world."
About the author
Zhang Xingjun, a journalism graduate from Lanzhou University, joined Xinhua in 2004. He successively served as reporter and director of economic interview Room of Henan Branch of Xinhua News Agency. From September 2017 to January 2021, he served as Chief correspondent of the Mumbai Bureau of Xinhua News Agency and is now deputy chief editor of the Henan Bureau of Xinhua News Agency.
