Language has been dominant for centuries, and it is not only the basis of our communication, but also the basis of our thinking. Temple Grandin, an American zoologist who was diagnosed with autism at an early age, overcame speech and reading disabilities with the help of his mother and teachers to earn a doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, later taught at Colorado State University, and worked as a consultant for livestock companies. In 2010, she was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential People of the year. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2016. She is the author of many books, including Why We Don't Talk, The Unspoken Rules of Social Interaction, Thinking in Images, The Autistic Brain, Born Different, and The Autistic Journey. The television movie The Autism Process, based on her autobiography and starring Claire Danes, won an Emmy Award in 2010 and a Golden Globe Award in 2011.
