Introduction to Technology and Germany
This book is a history of German technology from the early 19th century to the present, with the central idea that "technology shaped modern Germany". This book explores the interaction between technology and society, and describes the many forms that technology has taken in 200 years of modern German history. The book consists of 8 chapters, which are divided into two parts: "Tracing history" and "New Directions". The translation contains 200,000 words and 22 illustrations. The author is KarstenUhl, a German scholar who teaches modern history and the history of technology at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, and is the director of the Mittelbau-Dora concentration Camp memorial. The translator is Zhu Rendong, who has published many historical translations, including November 1918: The German Revolution, published by our agency.
As an overview work, this book covers many aspects of the history of technology, such as urban technology, rural technology, high technology, everyday technology, technology users, etc., and gives a relatively complete picture of the technological development of modern Germany.
