作者简介

The Differences between Fichte and Schelling's philosophical Systems
The Differences between the Philosophical Systems of Fichte and Schelling, published in 1801, has always been regarded as an important work of Hegel. On the surface, the work sorts through the philosophical systems of Fichte and Schelling, two important figures in German idealist philosophy, and attempts to clarify the fundamental differences between the two. But in fact, by comparing the ideas of these two philosophers, Hegel developed his own philosophical views, especially his understanding of the absolute spirit.
In Hegel's opinion, Fichte's philosophy was too focused on subjectivity, while Schelling's philosophy paid more attention to the unity of nature and spirit, but his attempts failed to overcome the opposition. Therefore, Hegel believes that true philosophy should transcend this subjective and objective opposition and reveal the process of self-presentation and self-knowledge of absolute spirit in natural and human history through dialectics. It is this insight that makes this book an important cornerstone of Hegel's later philosophical system.
About the author
Hegel (1770-1831) is a German idealist and one of the greatest philosophers in the history of Western philosophy. He studied at the University of Tubingen (with Schelling and Holderlin) and taught at Jena University, Heidelberg University and Berlin University. His major works include Differences between the philosophical systems of Fichte and Schelling (1801), Phenomenology of Spirit (1807), Logic (1812-1816), Encyclopedia of Philosophical Sciences (1817), and Principles of Philosophy of Law (1821). In addition, Lectures on the Philosophy of History, Lectures on Aesthetics, Lectures on the Philosophy of Religion and Lectures on the History of Philosophy are also important presentations of Hegel's philosophy.
