"Walking with Walser" 【 Content Introduction 】
In 1929, Swiss-German writer Robert Walser hid in a mental hospital and spent the rest of his life in seclude.
In 1933, Walser stopped writing. He said that he had not come to write, but to be mad, and that he would not come to write. He turned to his other favorite activity: hiking.
From 1936 onwards, Karl Zelig visited regularly, walked with Walser, and wrote a diary that became the only account of the last twenty years of Walser's life.
During the long walk, Zelig entered the heart of the poet who had been silent for a long time, and Walser began to pour out his true insights on life and literature.
On Christmas Day 1956, Walser died in the snow in the Alps, discovered first by a hunting dog, then by nearby farmers, then by the whole world.
