　　本书是全面考述宋代内臣李宪事迹的作品。李宪，宋神宗甚为宠信的内臣，在熙宁、元丰年间执行拓边西北的过程中立下赫赫战功，成为继王韶后主持西北军政的主帅。期间他采取的政策和提拔重用的一批文臣武将，对哲宗、徽宗时期经略西北产生了重大影响。在哲宗元佑旧党当政时期，李宪被斥为“四凶”之一，哲宗亲政新党复归后，则被誉为“名将”；宋室南渡，士人朝臣又将权宦童贯之祸归罪于他，责他罔上害民，贻患中国。

　　本书根据文献史料、碑刻铭文，以绵密的考证，生动的笔触，详细考述了李宪的军事生涯，认为其谋略和功绩与种谔、韩世忠、杨业、狄青、岳飞等宋代名将相比也不遑多让，堪称“宋代第一内臣名将”。

　　本书还探讨了北宋中后期内臣、君主、文臣武将之间的关系，以及神宗朝至徽宗朝变法图强、拓边西北过程中新旧党争不断的复杂政局。

　　作者简介

　　何冠环，知名宋史学者，先后任教于香港公开大学、新加坡南洋理工大学、香港教育大学、香港理工大学。现担任香港树仁大学历史系及香港新亚研究所客席。2006年获选为中国宋史研究会理事，2010年获选为岭南宋史研究会副会长，2014年获选为中国宋史研究会副会长。著有《宋初朋党与太平兴国三年进士》《北宋武将研究》《攀龙附凤：北宋潞州上党李氏外戚将门研究》《北宋武将研究续编》《功臣祸首：北宋末内臣童贯事迹考》等作品，发表学术论文数十篇。

Content introduction

This book is a comprehensive review of the deeds of Li Xian, an official in the Song Dynasty. Li Xian, a very trusted official of the Song Emperor, made great achievements in the process of implementing the northwest Tuobian during the years of Xining and Yuanfeng, and became the general manager who presided over the northwest military administration after Wang Shao. During this period, the policies he adopted and the promotion and reuse of a series of wenministers and generals had a great impact on the economic strategy of the Northwest in the period of Zhe Zong and Huizong. During the reign of the old Party, Li Xian was denounced as one of the "four evil men", and after the restoration of the new Party, he was praised as a "general". In the south of the Song Dynasty, the scholar courtiers again blamed him for the disaster of the power eunuch boy, accusing him of harming the people and endangering China.

Based on historical documents and inscriptions, this book gives a detailed examination of Li Xian's military career with detailed textual research and vivid brushwork, and believes that Li Xian's strategies and achievements are no less than those of other famous Song Dynasty generals such as Zong 'e, Han Shizhong, Yang Ye, Di Qing and Yue Fei, and can be called "the first famous official in the Song Dynasty".

The book also discusses the relationship between inner ministers, princes, civil ministers and generals in the middle and late Northern Song Dynasty, as well as the complicated political situation of the old and new parties in the process of the reform from Shenzong Dynasty to Huizong Dynasty and the expansion of the northwest.

About the author

He Guanhuan, a well-known scholar of Song history, has taught at the Open University of Hong Kong, Singapore's Nanyang Technological University, the Education University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is currently a guest at the Department of History of Hong Kong Shue Yan University and the New Asia Institute of Hong Kong. He was elected as a director of the China Song History Research Association in 2006, Vice president of the Lingnan Song History Research Association in 2010, and Vice president of the China Song History Research Association in 2014. He has published dozens of academic papers, such as "The Early Song Dynasty Friends and the Three Years of Advancement in the Taiping and Flourishing Kingdom", "A Study on the Martial Generals of the Northern Song Dynasty", "Climbing the Dragon and Attaching the Phoenix: A Study on the Li Family of the Upper Party of Luzhou in the Northern Song Dynasty", "A Continuation of the Study on the Martial Generals of the Northern Song Dynasty", and so on.
