  乾嘉之际为清代学术的鼎盛时期,其内容以实学、考据为代表,常被分为吴派和皖派,两派虽然均崇汉学、重古文,但在所治经典和对待汉人经说的态度上,仍有不少差异。惠栋作为吴派的代表学者,是清代《周易》研究第一人。然而,由于清代学术史的研究思路的固化,对惠栋的定位局限于严守汉儒家法的考据学家,掩盖了惠氏很多极具个人特色的思想面向。

  本书以惠栋研究为个案,但面向和立意其实非常开阔,关涉到整个清代学术史、思想史的大问题。对清代学术史的推进,只有通过积累这样的个案性综合研究,才能找到新的生长点,不然永远也脱离不了陈陈因袭的、套路化的研究思路。

  本书以清代乾嘉吴派学术的代表惠栋之易学研究为主题。惠氏家族三代传《易》,惠栋可谓是清代汉学派《周易》研究第一人。全书从惠栋家学渊源讲起,说明他如何通过“师法”的方法论,从理学传统转进至自己的“一家之学”,树立起汉学旗帜。惠栋将《易》之根本追溯至汉儒提倡的“元即太极”,又将作《易》之宗旨定位到与人之性情息息相关的“赞化育”,而深剖这些“微言大义”,则可知其以《易》为基础统摄群经的深意,在于融汇易学与“明堂之法”,从而建构全新的政治设计,藉此呈现惠氏“述旧信古”、颇具革命性的经学政治理想。

  清代学术史研究多年以来“义理-考据”“汉学-宋学”的对立框架为基础,以往学界对惠栋的定位,局限于严守汉儒家法的考据学家,实际上掩盖了惠氏极具特色的思想面貌。本书希望打破旧有窠臼,不仅为重新定位惠栋历史形象提供新思路,更为清代学术研究找到更富生命力的探索路径。

  谷继明,山东大学哲学学士,北京大学哲学系中国哲学博士,现为同济大学人文学院教授、博导。主要研究方向为易学、宋明理学、经学史。著有《周易正义读》、《周易导读》,整理注释有《易汉学新校注》《周易外传校注》《易学启蒙通释•周易本义启蒙翼传》《周易正解》等。



Content introduction

The period of Qianjia was the heyday of the Qing Dynasty, and its contents were represented by practical learning and textual research. It was often divided into the Wu School and the Anhui School. Although the two schools both worshipped Sinology and ancient literature, there were still many differences in their attitudes towards classics and classics of the Han people. As a representative scholar of Wu School, Huidong was the first person to study Zhouyi in Qing Dynasty. However, due to the solidification of the research ideas of the academic history of the Qing Dynasty, the orientation of Huidong is limited to the scholars who strictly adhere to the Han Confucian law, which covers up many of his personal characteristics.

This book takes the study of Huidong as a case, but its orientation and intention are actually very broad, which relates to the whole academic history and ideological history of the Qing Dynasty. To advance the academic history of the Qing Dynasty, only by accumulating such case-specific comprehensive studies can we find new growth points, otherwise we will never be able to break away from the traditional and routine research ideas.

The theme of this book is Huidong's study on the Yi study, a representative of the Qianjia Wu School in Qing Dynasty. Three generations of the Hui family passed down the Book of Changes, and Huidong was the first person to study the book of Changes in the Sinology school of Qing Dynasty. Starting from the origin of Huidong's family studies, the book explains how he turned from the tradition of Neo-Confucianism to his own "family studies" through the methodology of "learning the Fa" and set up the banner of Sinology. Huidong traced the root of Yi back to the "Yuan is Tai Chi" advocated by the Han Confucians, and positioned the purpose of Yi to the "Zan-hua education" closely related to people's temperament. By analyzing these "small words and great meaning", we can see the deep meaning of the "Yi" as the basis of controlling the group classics, which is to integrate the Yi study and the "Ming Tang Law", so as to construct a new political design. This presents Wyeth's revolutionary political ideal of "describing the old and believing the ancient".

For many years, the academic history of the Qing Dynasty has been studied on the basis of the opposing framework of "Yi-yi-textual research" and "Sinology - Song studies". In the past, the position of Huidong was limited to those scholars who strictly adhered to the Han Confucian law, which actually covered up his very distinctive ideological features. This book hopes to break the old pattern, not only to provide new ideas for repositioning the historical image of Huidong, but also to find a more vibrant exploration path for the academic research of Qing Dynasty.

About the author

Gu Jiming, Bachelor of Philosophy from Shandong University and Doctor of Chinese Philosophy from Peking University, is now a professor and doctoral advisor at the School of Humanities of Tongji University. His main research directions are Yi study, theory of Song and Ming Dynasty, and history of Confucian classics. He has written "Zhouyi Justice Reading", "Zhouyi Introduction", and compiled and annotated "New Notes on Yi Chinese Studies", "Zhouyi External Communication Notes", "Enlightenment Interpretation of Yi Learning • Enlightenment Wings of Zhouyi", "Zhouyi Zhengjie" and so on.
