  在数字时代里印刷出版一本纸质书是为了什么?

  十一年前,我出版了人生里第一本书。在这十一年间,我并没有停止过写作。在网上,我的文字散落在各处都有。有些文章让人传唱不已,有些文章只是过眼烟云。而我自己非常清楚,所有这些文字随着自己的情绪、心力和创造欲望起伏不定,能够把其中我满意的部分集结出版,是对自己也是对读者的尊重。对于读者而言,我持续在网上更新是一种陪伴;其中最精彩的部分则是一种告白。陪伴那么久,也应该告白了。

  我在网上经历过BBS时代、博客时代,以及正在经历的微博时代。从个人电脑到智能手机,在极短的时间里我见证了极为快速的变化。相比之下,写作是一件漫长而缓慢的事情。当进入写作状态之后,感觉整个世界都在以快进的方式疯狂向前,唯有键盘前的方寸之地时光停驻,可以让人慢下来。我相信,当人们拿着这本书的时候,也会感到相同的时光流速。我不想去挤占手机软件里快速流动的时间线,如果可能,我希望它能拥有一杯茶的时间。

  这本书以电子文档的形式存在于手机、电脑或者阅读器里有问题么?没有。事实上,其中的很多文字迄今为止都是以比特的形式存在。但我还是迷恋纸质书的感觉,就像是很多年前的夏日午后,我和父亲顶着烈日步行五公里去书店,趴在柜台上极力望里看的时候,那种心头跳跃沸腾的渴望。记得我的头刚好高过柜台一点点,我贪婪地看着那些封面,心里明白每次只能买一本走。难以下定决心时,我就用门牙轻轻地啃柜台边缘,“咔嚓”一声,牙齿穿过漆皮,直入木头。我想,如果想把这种感觉完整无缺地传递给读者,也许一本可以握在手中的纸质书是必须的。如同古老的召唤仪轨,需要合适的法器。

  我从事的工作和文字没有任何关系,那是和写作完全不同的一种表达方式。写作是我的业余爱好,就和做菜一样。也因为这个原因,多年来没有太长足的长进。和十一年前张扬桀骜的文字相比,现在我写得少了,也写得慢了,更加节制和内敛。在阅读不同篇目的时候,可能会明显地感觉到这种节奏上的变化,很难说我自己更喜欢那一种。我只知道,在任何一个阶段,我都努力尝试到了自己笔力的边缘,希望你能喜欢。

  最后,这本书的出版需要感谢罗辑思维的小伙伴们,尤其是李倩同学的帮助。如果不是她用家常红烧牛肉诱惑,如果不是她不辞辛劳翻阅上百万字的博文,这本书就不会得以付印。

  作者简介

  和菜头是一个网络ID,最早出现在1999年的BBS里。但是这一说法并不能获得确认,因为它可能在1997年就已经出现在战网里过。

  它曾经频繁出现在中青在线、金庸客栈、泡网江湖、天涯论坛、凯迪社区等地,当人们把它当作是一个BBS砖手接受的时候,他已经转向Blog了。起初,他在Blogcn写,后来去了新浪博客,然后又搬到了泡网Blog。最终,它启用三个独立域名,架设了基于Wordpress的独立Blog《槽边往事---比特海日志》。当人们把它当作是一个Blogger而接受的时候,他已经转向Twitter和微博客,同时,保持独力更新一个名叫《树洞》的公益Blog项目。

  有人于是猜想,和菜头大概不是一个人的ID,在这个ID后面应该是一群人。和菜头没有反驳过这个说法,也没有赞许过这个观点,它对此一直保持沉默。

  对于和菜头这个ID,网络的评价明确地被分为两极。喜欢它的人极为喜欢,厌恶它的人极为厌恶。这可能是因为他在网上存现得太久,以至于招人厌倦的缘故,和菜头自己曾经表达过类似的看法。

  根据和菜头的Blog所描述,承载这个ID的是一个沉重的肉身。时光荏苒,这具肉身受到肠溃疡、胃炎、脚气、痛风等疾病的困扰,在网络上活跃的时间也随之减少。

  关于这个ID的由来,和菜头对不同的人提供过无数个不同的版本,似乎以此为乐。在相对较为官方的版本中,它曾经宣称ID的来源是云南的一种咸菜,但是人们并不能记住这种咸菜的名字,因为它委实太过平凡了。

Eleven years ago, I published my first book. During those eleven years, I never stopped writing. On the Internet, my words are scattered everywhere. Some articles make people sing, and some articles are just passing by. I know very well that all these words ebb and flow with my emotions, heart, and creative desires, and it is a respect to myself and to my readers to be able to publish those that I am satisfied with. For readers, my constant online updates are a kind of company; The best part is a kind of confession. Accompany so long, also should confess.

I have experienced the BBS era, the blog era, and the micro-blog era that I am going through. From personal computers to smartphones, I have witnessed extremely rapid change in a very short period of time. Writing, by contrast, is a long, slow affair. When you enter the writing state, you feel that the whole world is moving forward in a crazy way, and only the square inch in front of the keyboard can stop time, which can slow people down. I believe that when people hold this book, they will feel the same flow of time. I don't want to crowd out the fast-moving timeline in the app, and if possible, I want it to have a cup of tea.

Is there a problem with the book being available as an electronic document on a phone, computer or reader? Not really. In fact, much of it has so far been written in bits. But I am still obsessed with the feeling of paper books, just as my heart leaped and seething when my father and I walked five kilometers to the bookstore in the hot sun on a summer afternoon many years ago, leaning on the counter and trying to look inside. I remember holding my head just above the counter and looking greedily at the covers, knowing that I could only buy one at a time. When I had trouble making up my mind, I nibbled the edge of the counter with my front teeth and, with a snap, pushed my teeth through the patent leather and into the wood. I thought that if I wanted to convey this feeling to the reader intact, maybe a paper book that I could hold in my hand would be necessary. Like an ancient summoning ritual, it requires the right instruments.

The work I do has nothing to do with words, which is a completely different form of expression from writing. Writing is my hobby, just like cooking. For this reason, there has not been much progress over the years. Compared with the words of eleven years ago, I write less and more slowly, and I am more restrained and restrained. This change of pace may be noticeable when reading different articles, and it is hard to say which one I prefer. I only know that at any stage, I have tried to try to the edge of my writing, I hope you like it.
