作者简介
李文海（1932—2013），江苏无锡人，中国人民大学原党委书记、校长，一级教授。1952年进入中国人民大学历史研究班学习，1955年毕业后留校。1973年任中共北京市委宣传部副部长。1983年起，历任中国人民大学历史系主任、清史研究所所长。1985年任中国人民大学副校长，1987年任党委书记兼副校长，1994年至2000年任校长。

The turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was the turn of the century when the feudal despotism that had lasted for thousands of years in China fell apart, and it was also the turn of the century when the Chinese people resisted imperialism and feudalism and pursued national independence and social progress. The alternation of old and new eras and the fusion of Sino-Western conflicts constitute a colorful historical picture at the turn of the century. "Late Qing Society at the Turn of the Century (New Edition of Qing History Research Series)" with "society" as the focus, made a multidimensional and quite thorough analysis of the social customs, social psychology, social trend of thought, social life and social disaster of the late Qing society in this period, and wrote a strong pen for the study of social history of the late Qing Dynasty.
About the author
Li Wenhai (1932-2013), born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, former Party secretary, president of Renmin University of China, first-class professor. In 1952, he entered the History Research class of Renmin University of China and remained in school after graduation in 1955. In 1973, he became deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee. Since 1983, he has served as the director of the Department of History and the Director of the Institute of Qing History of Renmin University of China. He was vice president of Renmin University of China in 1985, Party Secretary and Vice President in 1987, and President from 1994 to 2000.
