作者|凯瑟琳·佩奇·哈登（Kathryn Paige Harden）
行为基因学家，美国得克萨斯大学奥斯汀分校临床心理学教授，她领导该校的发育行为遗传学实验室，并参与领导得克萨斯双生子项目。曾发表100多篇关于遗传对复杂人类行为影响的科学论文。2017年，她因对遗传学和人类个体差异研究的杰出科学贡献而荣获美国心理学会颁发的国家级奖项。

Content introduction
This book is a popular science work related to genetic science. The first section presents the latest advances in genetic science, particularly the results of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and their broad applications, including explaining differences in height and weight, predicting disease, and academic success. The second part is devoted to building a new ethical framework for genetics. Drawing on her own experience as a mother, the author argues why we perpetuate the myth of meritocracy by refusing to acknowledge the power of genes, and why we must acknowledge the role of genetic luck if we are to create a just society.

A behavioral geneticist and professor of clinical psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, she directs the Developmental Behavioral Genetics Laboratory there and co-directs the Texas Twins Project. He has published more than 100 scientific papers on the influence of genetics on complex human behavior. In 2017, she received a national award from the American Psychological Association for outstanding scientific contributions to the study of genetics and human individual differences.
