作者简介
苏成捷（Matthew H.Sommer），加利福尼亚大学洛杉矶分校历史学博士，现为斯坦福大学历史系教授。擅长利用司法档案研究清代中国的性、社会性别关系和法律。出版有Sex，Law，and Society in Late Imperial China和Polyandry and Wife-selling in Qing Dynasty China两部学术专著，并在Late Imperial China、Modern China等学术刊物上发表论文多篇。
谢美裕，斯坦福大学历史学博士，历任斯坦福大学人文学概论讲师与俄亥俄州立大学马里恩校区历史系助理教授。
尤陈俊，中国人民大学法学院教授、博士生导师，教育部青年长江学者（2018年度）。在国内外学术刊物上发表论文多篇，出版有专著《聚讼纷纭》《法律知识的文字传播》，《从诉讼档案出发》等多部编著，以及译著《爪牙》。

This book is a classic study of sexual crimes in the field of legal history. The book uses a large number of legal history documents since the Tang Dynasty, focusing on the bottom people in Qing society such as widows, prostitutes, hired workers, beggars, and so on. It analyzes issues such as sexual behavior regulation, widow virginity, "single cases", and "prostitution" from a comparative historical perspective, restoring real cases, and showing the phenomenon of civilian marriage, female shortage, and discrimination against women from a micro perspective.
The author melds different research approaches such as gender history, legal history and social history into one, makes a macroscopic investigation of sexual crimes and legal issues, and probes into the regulation and guidance of sexual behavior and sexual ideas in Qing Dynasty. With vivid cases, three-dimensional characters and fluent language, the book reveals a complex and dynamic society in late imperial China.
About the author
Matthew H. Summer holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is now a professor of history at Stanford University. He specializes in using judicial archives to study sexuality, gender relations and law in Qing China. He has published two academic monographs: Sex, Law, and Society in Late Imperial China and Polyandry and Wife-selling in Qing Dynasty China. He has published many papers in academic journals such as Late Imperial China and Modern China.
Meiyu Hsieh holds a Ph.D. in history from Stanford University, and has been a lecturer in Introduction to Humanities at Stanford University and an assistant professor of history at the Marion Campus of Ohio State University.
You Chenjun, Professor and doctoral supervisor of Renmin University of China Law School, Young Changjiang Scholar of Ministry of Education (2018). He has published a number of papers in academic journals at home and abroad, and has published a number of monographs, such as "Opinions of Litigation", "Text Dissemination of Legal Knowledge", "Starting from Litigation Archives", and translated "Minions".
