"Notes on Mourning" is a moving account of a daughter's grief. Using personal events as a starting point, Adichie delicately Chronicles the memories of loved ones and family life, giving depth to the genre of mourning memoir and how grief erases language and removes the boundaries of identity and time. As a prominent African-American female writer in today's world literature, Adichie pays attention to the family reconstruction caused by separation and migration, intergenerational differences and communication difficulties, and records the isolation, disorder and pain brought by the epidemic to immigrant families.
Grief is a cruel education. It forces us to shed our shells.

Born in 1977 in the southern Nigerian city of Enugu into an intellectual family, he studied in the United States, studying communications and political science at Eastern Connecticut State University, before earning master's degrees at Johns Hopkins University and Yale University, respectively.
Her first novel, Purple Hibiscus, was nominated for the Orange Fiction Award in 2004, and her second novel, Half Round of Yellow Sun, won the Orange Fiction Award in 2007. The Thing Around the Neck was nominated for the 2009 Frank O 'Connor International Short Story Award. The Yank won the 2013 National Society of Book Critics Award for Fiction.
In 2014, she became famous for her TED talk, "We Should All Be Feminists."
