[美]约翰·瓦里亚诺（JohnVarriano）著
作家，艺术史学家。约翰·瓦里亚诺教授于密歇根大学获得艺术史博士学位，在蒙特霍利约克学院担任艺术史教授40年，曾担任艺术和艺术史系主任。
他是文艺复兴和巴洛克时期意大利艺术与建筑的著名专家，出版过6本书，主题包括巴洛克式意大利建筑、卡拉瓦乔的现实主义、罗马文学与神话，以及美食史。瓦里亚诺教授的研究方向还涉及旅行的艺术与文学。

Beginning with the origin of wine, the book tells a chronological history of wine culture from Ancient Greece, Rome, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the 17th and 18th centuries to the modern day, exploring the relationship between wine and religion, mythology, literature, art, medicine, health, etc., and its connection with contemporary popular culture. Writer, art historian. Professor John Valiano received his PhD in Art history from the University of Michigan and was a professor of Art history at Mount Holyoke College for 40 years, where he served as chair of the Department of Art and Art History.
He is a leading expert on Renaissance and Baroque Italian art and architecture and has published six books on topics such as Baroque Italian architecture, Caravaggio's realism, Roman literature and mythology, and gastronomic history. Professor Variano's research interests also include the art and literature of travel.
