2015年2月20日清晨，寒风刺骨。日本川崎市多摩川的堤岸边，人们发现了上村辽太的遗体。年仅13岁的辽太全身赤裸，身上有多达43处刀伤。
辽太的失血量超过1升——相当于全身血液的三分之一，在彻底失去知觉前，他艰难地爬行了23.5米，试图到公路上求助，但终究没有力气爬上堤坝。
警方不久便逮捕了犯罪嫌疑人，三人均未成年。
三名少年本是与辽太一起消磨时间的伙伴。父母离异之后，辽太跟随母亲和兄弟姐妹搬到了新城市，却难以适应新生活。青春期的孩子在家里和学校里失去容身之处，转而向外部世界寻求，并不是什么稀奇的事。他们遇到了和自己境遇相似的孩子，构建起一个共同的圈子，想要填补彼此心中的空洞，在这个过程中，有时会做些坏事——抽烟、打架、小偷小摸。

On the morning of February 20, 2015, the wind was biting. The body of Ryota Uemura was found on the banks of the Tama River in Kawasaki City, Japan. At the age of 13, Liao Tai was naked and had as many as 43 stab wounds on her body.
Liao Tai lost more than a litre of blood - equivalent to a third of his body's blood - before completely losing consciousness, he struggled to crawl 23.5 meters to the road for help, but ultimately did not have the strength to climb up the dam.
Police soon arrested the suspects, all of whom are minors.
Three young people are with Liao too together to kill time partners. After her parents divorced, Liao Tai moved to a new city with her mother and siblings, but struggled to adapt to the new life. It is not unusual for teenagers to lose their place at home and school and seek it out in the outside world. They meet children in similar situations, build a common circle, try to fill the hole in each other's hearts, and in the process, sometimes do bad things - smoking, fighting, petty theft.
But at what point did the idea of killing come into the minds of the teenagers?

Born in Tokyo in 1977. Famous Japanese non-fiction writer and novelist. He focuses on poverty, disasters, cases and other related topics in Japan, including "Naked abandoned by God", "Absolute poverty", "The Body", "Street Children 1945", "Announcing Infection", "Buddha Begging", "Tears Falling on Asia" and "The House of Demons".
In 2021, he won the New Trend Documentary Award, was twice listed in the top 30 of the Best Books of the Year of the Kii Kokuya Book House, and was nominated for many awards, such as the Otaichi Nonfiction Literature Prize, Kodansha Nonfiction Literature Prize, Kai Takaken Nonfiction Literature Prize, Japan Essayist Club Award, and Honya Grand Nonfiction Book Prize.
