《博斯》内容简介

　　希罗尼穆斯·博斯（约1450—1516年）是北方文艺复兴艺术时期的重要艺术家，他用惊世骇俗的想象力和令人赞叹的艺术语言，创作了艺术史上尤其神秘、怪异、奇诡的一批艺术作品。有关博斯生平的信息少之又少，他的画作也谜团重重，有人认为它们是疯子的幻象，也有人认为其中隐藏着异教徒的秘密语言。

　　于1980年取得波士顿大学艺术史博士学位，自1982年起担任纽约州锡拉丘兹大学美术系的艺术史教授。她的研究方向为启蒙运动之前艺术与科学的关系，著有《博斯〈人间乐园〉中的炼金术图像》（AlchemicalImageryinBosch'sGardenofDelights）以及《危险的贞洁：前启蒙时期的艺术与医学中的女性与疾病》（PerilousChastity:WomenandIllnessinPre-EnlightenmentArtandMedicine）等。

　　吴啸雷，杭州人。毕业于浙江大学心理学系、北京大学艺术学系。曾供职于中国美术家协会，现为自由学人，主要研究领域为西方古典艺术和当代艺术。译有《艺术史写作原理》（合译）、《艺术的终结》等。

　　孙伊，1980年生于天津。毕业于中国社会科学院研究生院文学系，获文学博士学位。著作有《摇滚中国》，译有《电动蜻蜓》《墨西哥早晨》《让光进来》等。

Introduction to the content of Bosch

Hieronimus Bosch (about 1450-1516) is an important artist in the northern Renaissance art period. He created a group of art works in the history of art that are especially mysterious, strange and bizarre with his astonishing imagination and amazing artistic language. Little is known about Bosch's life, and his paintings are shrouded in mystery, with some believing they are the visions of madmen and others believing they contain the secret language of pagans.

Art historian Laurinda Dixon takes readers back to Bosch's time to interpret the unique artist from the perspective of his time. The book analyzes the cultural environment of Bosch's time, explores Bosch's family and artistic education, places his paintings in the overall context of the society of the time, and interprets the multi-layered messages expressed in Bosch's works from the level of alchemy, astrology, medicine, chemistry and religious thought. The author does not follow the usual chronological order, but discusses the meaning of Bosch's work by theme, and explores the influence of Bosch's work in modern and contemporary society through modern paintings and popular culture.

LaurindaDixon

He received his Ph.D. in Art history from Boston University in 1980 and has been a professor of art history in the Department of Fine Arts at Syracuse University in New York State since 1982. Her research focuses on the relationship between art and science before the Enlightenment, and she is the author of Alchemy Images inBosch'sGardenofDelights and Dangerous Chastity: Before the art of the enlightenment and the women with the disease in medicine "(PerilousChastity: WomenandIllnessinPre - EnlightenmentArtandMedicine), etc.

Translator's introduction

Wu Xiaolei is from Hangzhou. He graduated from the psychology Department of Zhejiang University and the Art Department of Peking University. He used to work for the Chinese Artists Association and is now a freelance scholar. His main research fields are Western classical art and contemporary art. His translations include Principles of Art History Writing and The End of Art.

Sun Yi was born in 1980 in Tianjin. He graduated from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences with a Doctor of Literature degree. His books include "Rock China", "Electric Dragonfly", "Mexican Morning" and "Let the Light In".
