　　这本书试图以林徽因和她的生命世界中所能观察到的复杂时代和价值选择为线索，勾勒民国初期留学归来，致力于家国建设、民族独立富强的一代知识分子群像，再现他们在剧变的、忧患的时代底下的命运轨迹，浮沉与思考。

This book attempts to take Lin Huiyin and the complex times and value choices that can be observed in her life world as clues, outline the group image of a generation of intellectuals who returned from studying abroad in the early Republic of China, committed to the construction of the country, national independence and prosperity, and rerepresent their fate track, ups and downs and reflections under the era of upheaval and distress.

Lin Huiyin belongs to a generation that has transferred from the traditional taxi to the new intellectual on the way to connect the past and the future. When they were young, they followed the tradition, and it was a common idea to make meritorious contributions. During their school years, they were baptized by the May Fourth Movement, studied abroad in Europe and the United States, received modern academic training, and cultivated a persistent desire to investigate the origin of things. The combination of the two determines their lives - is to use their own knowledge, professional pursuit, heritage of the context of the mission and responsibility, to give the war and change in the motherland with a "substantial" impact, to promote the difficult turn of a big country.
