　　《草中鸽》是德国著名作家、战后德国文坛传奇沃尔夫冈·克彭的长篇小说代表作。1951年发表后立即轰动德语文坛，被评论界誉为“开创新纪元的小说”。它与克彭之后创作的《温室》《死于罗马》组成著名的“战后三部曲”，共同奠定了克彭在当代德语文学史上的大师地位，为其赢得了包括德语文学最高奖项毕希纳奖在内的诸多荣誉。

　　小说讲述了慕尼黑1948年某一天内发生的一系列琐碎事件，多视角、全景式地刻画了几组来自不同的国家、阶级与种族的小人物在偶然中的交集。他们身不由己地被卷入了各种令人不安的冲突与意外之中，一切寻求意义的努力最终都随着一天的结束以失败告终。作者大胆地运用了意识流与象征手法，通过剖析普通人错综复杂的精神状态，对战后德国混乱虚无的社会状况，乃至整个西方文明的困境进行了冷峻的审视与反思。

　　沃尔夫冈·克彭（Wolfgang Koeppen，1906—1996）

　　德国作家，战后德国文坛传奇。早年做过记者、演员、戏剧顾问、报刊编辑，20世纪30年代开始文学创作，著有长篇小说《伤心情事》等。1951年起发表的“战后三部曲”——《草中鸽》《温室》《死于罗马》以独特的现代主义风格完整呈现了战后德国的社会政治氛围，轰动当时的德语文坛，被公认为战后德语文学经典，奠定了克彭的大师地位。德国著名作家、诺贝尔文学奖得主君特·格拉斯称其为“当代德国最伟大的小说家”。后期著有一些游记以及回忆录《青春》。1962年荣获德语文学最高奖项“毕希纳奖”。

Pigeon in the Grass is a masterpiece of Wolfgang Keppen, a famous German writer and a legend of post-war German literature. After its publication in 1951, it immediately became a sensation in German literature and was praised by critics as "a novel that initiates a new era". It, together with Keppen's later works The Hothouse and Death in Rome, formed the famous post-war trilogy, which jointly established Keppen's status as a master in the history of contemporary German literature and won him many honors, including the highest award in German literature, the Bishchner Prize.

The novel tells the story of a series of trivial events that took place in Munich on a single day in 1948, a multi-perspective, panoramic portrayal of several groups of small people from different countries, classes and races in the accidental intersection. They are drawn into disturbing conflicts and accidents, and their search for meaning ends in failure at the end of the day. The author boldly uses stream-of-consciousness and symbolic techniques to analyze the intricate mental state of ordinary people, and makes a cold review and reflection on the chaotic and nothingness social situation in post-war Germany and the predicament of the whole Western civilization.

Wolfgang Koeppen (1906-1996)

German writer, post-war German literary legend. In his early years, he worked as a journalist, actor, drama consultant, and newspaper editor. In the 1930s, he began to write literary works, including the novel "Sad Things". Since 1951, the "post-war trilogy" - "Pigeon in the Grass", "Greenhouse" and "Death in Rome" published in a unique modernist style, completely presented the social and political atmosphere of post-war Germany, which was a sensation in the German literature circle at that time, and was recognized as a classic of post-war German literature, laying the foundation of Keppen's master status. Gunter Grass, a famous German writer and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, called him "the greatest contemporary German novelist." Later, he wrote several travelogues and a memoir, Youth. In 1962, he was awarded the Beechner Prize, the highest prize in German literature.
