莱斯利·马蒙·西尔科（Leslie Marmon Silko），1948年出生于美国新墨西哥州，在拉古纳保留地长大，是“印第安文艺复兴”代表人物、“美国印第安文学四大家”之一。

Thousands of years ago, the ancestors of the Indians were lured by the black wizard Pacayani to abandon the earth goddess "Corn Mother". In her anger, the goddess no longer protected mankind, and from then on heaven and earth became desolate and everything withered. Driven by black magic, the "destroyers" set out to destroy everything.
For years, Tayu lived a life on the margins. The people did not accept the mestizos, and the whites rejected him. When he came home from the Pacific War, he was in a trance. The loss of loved ones, the trauma of war, the decay of his homeland, and the growing divide between his races all add to his pain.
Tayu knew that black magic was still in effect, across time and space, eating away at himself and poisoning the ground beneath him - people enveloped in a shared darkness. With the help of Beatoni, a tribal witch doctor, he embarks on an ancient sand-painting ritual in the New Mexico wilderness to find the secret to fighting black magic alone.
With the sunrise approaching and the destroyers ready to move, will the rites of Tayu come to a happy end?
About the author
Leslie Marmon Silko (Leslie Marmon Silko), born in 1948 in New Mexico, grew up on the Laguna Reservation, is a representative of the "Indian Renaissance" and one of the "four masters of American Indian literature".
Her major works include poetry collections such as Laguna Women, Storytellers, Holy Water: Narratives and Images, novels such as Rituals, Almanac of the Dead, and Garden of Dunes, as well as non-fiction works such as Flexible as Lace and the Turquoise Lode. He has received many literary awards, such as the Pushkart Poetry Award, the American Indian Writer Lifetime Achievement Award, and the MacArthur "Genius Grant", one of the highest interdisciplinary awards in the United States.
