  作者简介······

  弗兰克·维托斯克(Frank T.Vertosick Jr.,MD),1955年出生于美国宾夕法尼亚州。原本是一位钢铁厂工人,后进入匹兹堡大学医学院接受神经外科住院医师培训。1988年结束实习期后,于西宾夕法尼亚医院工作了十五年,曾担任神经外科和神经肿瘤外科副主任医师。2002年,因罹患早发性帕金森症而告别手术台,但仍在华盛顿的办公室为病人看诊。著有《我们为什么会受伤:关于疼痛的自然史》《内在智能:发现每种生物孕育的智慧》等。

About the author

Frank T.Vertosick Jr.,MD, was born in 1955 in Pennsylvania, USA. Originally a steel mill worker, he entered the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine for a residency in neurosurgery. After completing his residency in 1988, he worked for 15 years at Western Pennsylvania Hospital, where he served as Associate chief of neurosurgery and neurooncological surgery. In 2002, he left the operating table after suffering from early-onset Parkinson's disease, but continued to see patients in his Washington office. He is the author of "Why We Hurt: A Natural History of Pain" and "Inner Intelligence: Discovering the Wisdom that Every living thing Breeds."
