【 Content Introduction 】

Self is an illusion, choice does not exist, truth is not an edifice, it is quicksand...

How to survive in a turbulent world?

This three-volume collection features 20 classic works from the 30-year career of Greg Egan, a master of contemporary hard science fiction. Egan has become popular in the Western world and Japan, but he has never shown his real face: no signatures, no circles, no photos on the Internet, and even the clues to his email are presented as puzzles. He believed that people's inner world and the external world can be understood by natural science, and ideas, personality, memory and even love can be explained from the depths of physics. We can know everything if we are brave enough.

About the author

Greg Egan (1961 -) is an Australian science fiction writer. In his early years, he dreamed of becoming a film director and later worked as a programmer in a hospital. He began publishing in the 1980s and became famous as a professional writer. He has been hailed by the media and science fiction fans as "the highest peak of modern science fiction" and is the core figure of the "extreme hard science fiction" creation movement. Egan, who was briefly religious as a teenager and later became a committed atheist, has long been concerned about refugees. His work aims to raise the profile of science through art and make people understand that science is as essential to human life as love and religion.

"We are part of a physical universe whose laws can be discovered by reason and observation - this is the deepest and most powerful insight in our history, yet most literature, including much of science fiction, either ignores this fact or trivialises it."

-- Greg Egan
