书话的散文因素需要包括一点事实,一点掌故,一点观点,一点抒情的气息;它给人以知识,也给人以艺术的享受。除原来的《书话》外,本书又收录了《读余书杂》《诗海一勺》《译书过眼录》和《书城八记》四个部分。
唐弢以丰富、全面的藏书为基础,又比照传统版本、目录之学,为现代文学的文献研究作出开拓性贡献。一九四五年,唐弢开始写作现代文学“书话”,“将每一段书话写成一篇独立的散文”。后多有人以“书话”体裁归为唐弢首创。《晦庵书话》评论李大钊、鲁迅、刘半农、刘大白、王统照、朱自清、许地山、闻一多、朱湘、茅盾、郁达夫、郭沫若、沈从文等的作品,虽无当下学术著作炎炎巨制之形,却对现代文学的许多作品和事实做出了清晰明确的解说、考订、澄清,钩要提繁,为理解现代文学的历史地形打下了坚实基础。或叙其版本历史、事实掌故,或述己观点、审美情感,不以枯燥的资料汇编为己任,而力求将文艺的灵动融汇于充实的内容。
作者介绍
唐弢(1913-1992),浙江镇海人。现代散文学家、文史研究家。20世纪30年代起从事创作,以散文、杂文为主。40年代创办《周报》,主编过《文汇报》副刊《笔会》。出版杂文集、散文集、评论集二十余种。40年代以来,以“晦庵”为笔名撰写“书话”,用序跋式散文形式,钩稽现代文学、文化、出版工作的大量史料。

Introduction of the author
Tang Tao (1913-1992) was born in Zhenhai, Zhejiang Province. Modern essayist, literature and history researcher. Since the 1930s, he has been engaged in writing, mainly essays and essays. In the 1940s, he founded Weekly Newspaper and edited the supplement of Wen Wei Po, Pen Club. He has published more than 20 collections of essays, essays and reviews. Since the 1940s, he wrote "Shuhua" under the pen name of "Tan 'an", and used the form of preface and postscript prose to review a large number of historical materials of modern literature, culture and publishing.
