蒂姆•高特罗
（1947—）

First published in 1996, it is the first collection of short stories officially published by Tim Gotrow, a representative writer of American Southern literature, who was 49 years old. The book contains twelve novels, including "Scary News at Night", which won a National Journal Award, and "The Exterminator", which was selected as "Best New Southern American Novel". As the literal translation of the title, "Same Place, same Thing," suggests, the vast majority of the story's protagonists live in a swamp of repeated mistakes and disappointments, where sinking is the predictable outcome, but something unexpected is happening: Can they seize this last chance to gradually climb out of their respective quagmire?

Tim Gautrow
(1947 -)
American novelist, born in Morgan City, Louisiana, graduated from Nichols State University and the University of South Carolina with a doctorate in English literature. He taught creative writing at Southeastern Louisiana University from 1972 until his retirement in 2003, when he continued to serve as the school's writer-in-residence. He currently lives with his family in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
In 1999, Gotrow won the Southeastern Booksellers Association Award for his novel The Next Step, and the Southern Independent Booksellers Association Award for his novel The Clearing in the Woods, which won the South Central Independent Booksellers Association Award in 2003. In 2005, Gautrow was awarded the John DOS Passos Prize. In 2009, he published his latest novel, Miss, which is considered his best novel to date. In the same year, he received the Louisiana Writers Award for his literary contributions.
Gautreau's short stories have appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, Harpers, GQ, and many other anthologies, including Best American Short Stories. In 1999, his short story collection "Stuck with Children" was published and was selected as the New York Times Important Book of the Year. In 2017, his latest collection of short stories, Signals, was published and was selected as one of the Best Books of the Year by the Wall Street Journal and NPR.
First published in 1996, it is the first collection of short stories in Gautreau's writing career.
