《“社会”的发现》内容简介
本书是研究“社会”概念兴起和广泛运用的首部系统专著。作者从词汇史和概念史切入，爬梳了“社会”这一词语由西方引介到中国，并且逐步普及的过程。全书研究视角独特，方法创新，以“社会”这一微细的单一概念为基础，将清末报刊和著作中使用“社会”一词的频次进行量化分析，材料丰富，论证周详，揭示了“社会”逐渐取代“群”“人群”等词的原因。同时，作者并不只聚焦于词语的考证和论述，而是以“社会”一词为切入，再现了严复、梁启超等近代学人对“社会”概念的讨论，呈现晚清民初各种思想和潮流的角力、争持和交替。
作者简介
承红磊，男，河南商水人，复旦大学本科、硕士，香港中文大学博士，中国社会科学院近代史研究所博士后，现为华中师范大学历史文化学院副教授，主要研究方向为晚清民初政治史、思想史、近代中外关系史，在《历史研究》《复旦学报》《史林》等刊物发表论文多篇。
Introduction to the Discovery of "Society"
This book is the first systematic monograph to study the rise and widespread use of the concept of "society". Starting from the history of vocabulary and concept, the author combs the process of introducing the word "society" from the West to China and gradually popularizing it. Based on the single concept of "society", this book makes a quantitative analysis of the frequency of the word "society" used in newspapers and works at the end of the Qing Dynasty. With rich materials and detailed arguments, it reveals the reasons why "society" has gradually replaced the words "group" and "crowd". At the same time, the author does not only focus on the textual research and discussion of words, but starts with the word "society" to reproduce the discussion of the concept of "society" by modern scholars such as Yan Fu and Liang Qichao, presenting the struggle, contention and alternation of various ideas and trends in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.
About the author
Cheng Honglei, male, born in Shangshui, Henan Province, bachelor and master of Fudan University, Doctor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, postdoctoral fellow of the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and associate professor of the School of History and Culture of Central China Normal University. His main research interests are political history, ideological history and modern history of Sino-foreign relations in the late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China.
