《枕草子》是日本随笔文学开山之作。
全书共有305段,分为类聚、日记、随想三大类,类聚罗列了生活中种种事物,涉及地理风貌、草木花鸟、生活情趣等,体现出清少纳言的审美趣味;日记记录了清少纳言在宫中的生活,可从中了解日本平安时代皇室贵族的生活状态和品位素养;随想则是面对自然与人生的随感,表达出明快自由的生活态度。

著者:清少纳言,清是姓,少纳言系官位职称。
日本平安时代的女文学家,中古三十六歌仙之一,与紫式部、和泉式部并称“平安时期三才媛”,曾任一条天皇皇后藤原定子的女官。
她的随笔开日本散文之先河,代表作《枕草子》与《源氏物语》被称为日本“平安文学双璧”,与《方丈记》和《徒然草》被称为“日本三大随笔”。
译者:周作人,中国散文家、翻译家。原名櫆寿,字启明,晚年改名遐寿,浙江绍兴人。
著有《自己的园地》《谈龙集》《知堂回想录》等,主要译作有《日本狂言选》《枕草子》《现代日本小说选》《浮世澡堂》《伊索寓言》等。

Japanese Heian period female writer, one of the thirty-six song fairy in the Middle ages, and Murasaki Shibe, Izumi Shibe and called "Heian period three Jae Yuan", once served as a female officer of the emperor Empress Fujimoto.
Her essays are the first of their kind in Japanese prose, and her representative works "Sukusako" and "The Tale of Genji" are known as the "twin pieces of Heian literature" in Japan, and "Abbot Ji" and "Fukusako" are known as the "three major Japanese essays".
Translator: Zhou Zuoren, Chinese essayist and translator. His original name was 櫆 Shou, his character was Qiming, and he was renamed Xia Shou in his later years. He was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province.
