【 Content Introduction 】

Sonic Youth, which appeared in post-punk New York, is one of the most influential bands in the history of American music, as well as the marriage of female lead singer Kim Gordon and fellow band leader Thurston Moore, who for the first time created an equal creative relationship between men and women in the band, becoming the ideal of many music fans.

The public was shocked when the pair split in 2011 after 27 years of marriage, leading to the dissolution of Sonic Youth. Gordon wrote this memoir to examine the journey he had traveled before.

Gordon traces his childhood in Beatnik California. It's also about New York at the end of the 20th century. The city that once belonged to Andy Warhol, Patti Smith and Lou Reed is dead, and money is pouring into the arts, setting the stage for the Sonic Youth legend. In the future, the band would become a precursor to the explosive success of bands such as Nirvana.

Finally, Gordon uses the album as a cue to pay tribute to the writers, musicians and artists who inspired her, providing fans with priceless details.

The book is full of the unique sound and light particles of the 1980s and 1990s, recording how a "band girl" grows into a woman under the "energy peak" of male musicians, and how to construct a creative life of her own when there is no other way out in the world.

About the author

Author: Kim Gordon, born in 1953, is a founding member, lead singer and bassist of the American experimental post-punk band Sonic Youth. She is regarded as a beacon of feminist power and is known as the "Goddess of post-punk".

Sonic Youth, who emerged in New York City, are one of the most influential bands of all time, and their legacy continues to influence indie rock and American pop culture. Known for her mysterious and distant demeanor on stage over the years, not girly, not masculine, Gordon has worked with the male-dominated New York noise band for more than three decades, and has expanded her activities into fashion, performance and art, becoming a living testament to the existence of female power.

After Sonic Youth disbanded in 2011, Gordon formed the band Body/Head. In 2014, he published a collection of art criticism, Is This My Body? (Is It My Body?) He has held solo exhibitions at Gagosian Gallery in Los Angeles, White Columns in New York, and 303 Gallery in New York.

Gordon currently lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, New York, and Los Angeles.
