洛尔·西格尔（Lore Segal），美国女作家，美国艺术暨文学学会会员。1928年出生于维也纳，纳粹德国占领奥地利后，她作为犹太儿童难民被转移到英国，接下来的十三年里，她辗转多个国家，并在伦敦取得学士学位，最终定居美国。她的作品曾获得美国艺术暨文学学会奖、欧·亨利奖以及普利策奖提名。她有多年的写作经验，不仅创作小说、随笔等，还创作儿童文学，并拥有多部译著。如今她已95岁，却笔耕不辍，仍在《纽约客》上定期撰稿。

For more than three decades, five ladies have been growing old together, entering their nineties together. They meet monthly for "lady luncheons," where they give each other advice on life dilemmas, tell each other funny stories, and offer insights into friendship, aging, and death.

They sometimes battle their carers for a bite of bread and butter; Occasionally whimsical, trying to rescue a companion who was being sent to a nursing home by car, although eventually unable to renew his driver's license due to vision problems; Sometimes you forget the theme of the party, only to find out at the end that it's a funeral.

In addition, there is the unbearable burden of the dust of history that the author records on ordinary people. At the age of 10, she experienced World War II and was forced to flee to a foreign country. In her later years, she unfortunately contracted the novel coronavirus pneumonia. Lore Segal is an American writer and fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Born in Vienna in 1928, she was moved to Britain as a Jewish child refugee after the Nazi occupation of Austria and spent the next 13 years in various countries, earning a bachelor's degree in London and eventually settling in the United States. Her work has received awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the O. Henry Award, and a Pulitzer Prize nomination. She has many years of writing experience, not only writing novels, essays, etc., but also writing children's literature, and has a number of translations. Now, at 95, she continues to write regularly for The New Yorker.

Translator: Zeng Rong, graduated from Wuhan University in 1990, has published more than 10 translations such as Twilight Will End and Uncensored.
